Ravi Rawal — founder
UTAS was founded in 1974, the year we introduced tourist charters to India. Our founder, Ravi Rawal, became the first Indian to ever brave the Zanskar River in a rafting expedition in 1978. He went on to lead the inaugural Tons River rafting expedition in 1981, and pioneered Himalayan skiing expeditions in 1979. Five decades later, that same appetite for doing things first — properly, and in person — still shapes how every UTAS journey is designed.
Neeru Rawal — co-lead
UTAS is co-led by Mrs. Neeru Rawal, who speaks English, Spanish, French, and Hindi — and who hosts guests personally, not through a call centre. Much of UTAS's following among Spanish-speaking travellers, from Colombia to Argentina to Mexico, comes directly from Neeru's hands-on attention to every trip she designs.
